Truett Phillips and Foy Mitchell decided to honor Tom Landrum by creating the Tom Landrum Invitational golf tournament in 1991 because they believed Tom was one of the best and finest representatives of the property tax profession. It is fitting that we continue the TLTP in Tom and Truett's honor. Tom and Truett set a great  example of integrity and commitment to the highest values in our profession.

Truett worked in the property tax business for 45 years, seven years with Thomas Y. Pickett and 33 years for Hunt Oil Company.

He was the property tax manager for Hunt Oil Company for 23 years. In 1999 he retired and joined Consolidated Tax Service with an office in Lindale, close to his retirement home at Hideaway Lake.

Truett was a CMI with certificate number 32. Truett served as a member and officer of many professional organizations. One of his most memorable moments was in 2002 when he received an award for distinguished service from the Texas Oil & Gas Association.

In September 2004 Truett unexpectedly passed away. He will be remembered for his contagious enthusiasm for his faith, family, and profession.
